In Euless, Texas: More than 100 employers will be on the hunt for potential employees, as CareerSolutions, a nonprofit job-seeker ministry, will present its annual job fair on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will take place at First Baptist Euless Campus West, 1000 W. In Louisville, Ky.: Christian Hunger Fund founder and president Dave Phillips will host the Rethink Mercy Conference set for AprilDave Phillips 11 on the campus of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville immediately following the Together for the Gospel conference. The Rethink Mercy Conference will feature a pastors’ roundtable discussion on these issues, as well as keynote messages by Al Mohler, author and president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Dhati Lewis, lead pastor of Blueprint Church in Atlanta. In Port Arthur, Texas: The Port Arthur Christian Women will hold its luncheon titled “Live, Laugh and Love Life” on Friday, April 11, beginning at 11:45 a.m. at the Pompano Club LeChambre  Room, 330 Twin City Highway, Port Neches.  The cost of lunch is $17 per person. In College Park, Md.: Four-time Grammy winning gospel artist Yolanda Adams will headline a benefit concert for EleanorYolanda Adams Roosevelt High School and A Very Taylored Foundation (AVTF) on April 6 at 3 and 7 p.m. at the University of Maryland, 3800 Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Dekelboum Concert Hall, in College Park. Funds raised will help Roosevelt students and AVTF purchase tables and chairs, build an additional bathroom, and provide scholarship opportunities for students at the Marmanet Secondary School in Kenya. In Chicago:  The Midtown Educational Foundation will hold a benefit breakfast to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field on April 10 at the Chicago law offices of Skadden Arps, 155 N. Wacker Drive, 28th floor. Registration and continental breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., and the program runs from 8 to 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit, which provides after-school and summertime enrichment programs for 1,100 at-risk children ages 8-18. Guest speaker is Kevin Saghy, manager of communications for the Chicago Cubs.  Cost is $15 for breakfast and a chance to win tickets to the official 100th anniversary game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, April. 23. In Lewisville, Texas: Youth Enjoying Salvation (Y.E.S.) Ministries of Denton will host is first Born 2 Be Free conference and concert on Saturday, July 14 beginning at 9 a.m. at Macedonia Ministries, 702 S. Mill St. in Lewisville. Youth and young adults, ages 13-29, are invited to attend. Event is free and meals provided, but pre-registration is required. Day sessions and workshops include music, praise dance/step, spoken work/rap and sign language. The concert begins at 6 p.m. at the Medical Center Lewisville Grand Theatre. The event will feature the Born2BFree Conference choir and dance, mime, and step teams, and Christian and gospel artists.

In Fort Worth, Texas: The Fort Worth Christian Women’s Connection will hold a “Young at Heart” luncheon honoring mothers, daughters, and granddaughters from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 at Mira Vista Country Club, 6600 Mira Vista Blvd., in Fort Worth. In Abilene, Texas: Citing personal and family reasons, Hardin-Simmons softball coach Dan Sheppard has resigned his position effective June 15.

“This was not an easy decision,” said Sheppard. “I have thought about this for a while and believe there is a need for me to give more attention to my family. I had to consider if I could continue to give HSU all the job deserves and still fulfill family commitments. I appreciate HSU giving me this opportunity.”

Sheppard spent two seasons as the Cowgirls’ head man and had a record of 47-36. His teams finished second in the American Southwest Conference West Division in both seasons.

A full search for his replacement will begin immediately.

In Euless, Texas: CareerSolutions will sponsor a free seminar by Terry Sullivan, social media maven, LinkedIn coach, and marketing executive, on “Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile” on Wednesday, May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church Euless, 1000 W. Airport Freeway, in Euless room 115. The event is FREE, but will be first-come, first-served and seating is limited.
